"**What this part does**
Takes the axial (end) load of the rotating assembly so the shaft cannot push along its axis and the rotating parts stay correctly located.
**Where it is installed**
The Thrust / Flat Bearing (3-piece set) is located between the shaft and the swash plate / cylinder, where the axial load is taken.
**Symptoms of a failed bearing**
A worn or damaged bearing shows up as one or more of these symptoms:
- End-float in the shaft; the rotating assembly moves in and out
- Rattle or knock from the compressor at idle, quietening as revs rise
- Excess load on the shaft seal, causing a front oil leak
- Scored or pitted thrust washer / race when the compressor is opened
- Belt chirp on compressor engagement as the shaft moves
**When to replace**
Replace during any compressor overhaul, and whenever shaft end-float or front-end rattle is found.
**Why choose this part**
Supplied as a direct replacement for the original part. Always compare the dimensions, hole layout and finish with your original part before ordering.
**Ordering note**
Thrust bearings are matched by bore, outside diameter and thickness. Compare all three with the original part before ordering.
