"**What this part does**
Clamps the compressor housings together and holds the valve plate and gaskets in compression, so the joints stay sealed against discharge pressure.
**Where it is installed**
The Compressor Bolt (centre cylinder, centre) is located through the cylinder head / valve plate / cylinder block joint and on the end cover.
**Symptoms of a failed compressor bolt**
A worn or damaged compressor bolt shows up as one or more of these symptoms:
- Oil mist or bubbles appearing at a housing joint; a leak found at the joint
- Bolt heads corroded or threads stretched; bolts snapping on removal
- Fretting or movement at the housing joint and a gasket blown out
- Re-used or stretched bolts that lose clamp load and let the joint weep
**When to replace**
Bolts are effectively single-use on a rebuild — replace any bolt that is stretched, corroded or has been re-used. Always tighten to the correct torque in the correct sequence.
**Why choose this part**
Supplied as a direct replacement for the original part. Always compare the dimensions, hole layout and finish with your original part before ordering.
**Ordering note**
Match the thread diameter, pitch and length with the original bolt before ordering.
